CHRISTOS GIANNAKOPOULOS


 

Christos Yiannakopoulos was born in Sparta and graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. His postgraduate studies include a diploma in Biomechanics from the University of Strathclyde and a Ph.D in experimental biomechanics from the Laboratory for the Research of the Musculoskeletal System of NKUA. He is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with main focus the treatment of sports injuries, and the arthroscopic and shoulder surgery. Numerous athletes and sports teams of various levels and disciples are under his care. He has served as President of the Hellenic Arthroscopy Association and is member of the scientific committee of ESSKA. For his clinical and research work he has received several prizes in Greece and abroad. He serves as Asst. Professor teaching Functional Anatomy, Sports Medicine and Hygiene and First Aid in pregraduate students. In the Postgraduate Program Biology of Exercise, he teaches Sports Medicine. He supervises numerous graduate and postgraduate studies focusing on Functional Anatomy and Sports Injuries.
