Elissavet Rousanoglou is a Professor in Sports Biomechanics at the School of Physical Education and Sports Science (SPESS), National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. She has studied in Greece (Bachelor degree: SPESS-NKUA, 1983-1987, Postgraduate Diploma: PMS "Biology of Exercise", SPESS-NKUA 1998-2001, PhD Diploma: " Biology of Exercise", SPESS-NKUA 2001-2005) and she also gained research experience in internationally prestigious research laboratory (Human Performance Lab, University of Calgary, Canada). She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to the specialized and broader field of Sports Biomechanics, while before her appointment to Higher Education (April 17, 2007) she served in Primary Education (1989-2007) as a Physical Education Teacher. She is the Director of the Department of Sports Medicine and Biology of Exercise (2022-2023, re-election for the two-year period 2023-2025) and has served as a deputy director of the PMS " Biology of Exercise" (July 2018 - September 2020). She has served the PMS " Biology of Exercise" for a number of years from her positions as a member of the Coordinating Committee (2007 to the present), Study Academic Advisor (2009-2010 to 2013-2014 and from 2020 to present), member of the examination committee of "Computer and Internet Skills" of the PMS candidates (abolition of the examination during the re-establishment of the PMS in 2018), responsible for building the format guidelines concerning the structure of the diploma theses at the three phases of PMS studies (research proposal, defense, final leather bound version) (assignment in 2014), while from the Academic Year 2022-2023 she also bears the responsibility of checking and providing clearance regarding the application of format guidelines of final leather-bound version of the PMS theses. Her research interests concern aspects of Human Movement Biomechanics and Motor Control related to health and performance, particularly during exercise, and with an additional special interest in the role of auditory stimuli in the biomechanical parameters, as well as those of muscular and brain activation, that shape motor pattern. She has publications, and serves as a reviewer, in prestigious international scientific journals with high readership. She is a guest editor for the special issue "Inertial Sensor Assessment of Human Movement» of the scientific journal Biomechanics, MDPI). She is a founding member of the Hellenic Society of Biomechanics (HSB) and has been a HSB board member for many years (Secretary from 2006 to 2010, President from 2010 to 2012). She has been a member of the organizing committee in national and international conferences and is a member of international scientific societies (International Society of Biomechanics, European College of Sports Science). As the director of the Sports Biomechanics Laboratory of her School (14/04/2022 until today) she participates in the organization of the international initiative "National Day of Biomechanics.
