Petros Botonis was born in Athens (19/061978) and has graduated from the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (DPESS) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He has MS.c degree from the program “Biology of Physical Activity of DPESS, University of Athens, Greece (2009) “with specialization in Exercise Physiology, and Ph.D in Sports Science of DPESS, University of Athens, Greece (2014). He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at DPESS, University of Athens, Greece (2017-2019) and his project was funded by IKY. From 2019, he serves as performance director of the National Water Polo team of Greece (men). In 2021, he was appointed as Assistant Professor in DPESS, University of Athens, Greece with scientific discipline “Didactics and Theory of Training in Water Polo”. He also teaches at the Post Graduate Program “Physical Education and Sports”. the courses “Biological bases of athletic performance” and “Special issues in aquatic sports”. He has published more than 30 papers in international peer reviewed Journals in the discipline of exercise physiology (thermal regulation, sleep) and sports physiology and training (18 papers as first author).
