Dr. Vassilis Paschalis is an Associate Professor in "Applied Exercise Physiology" in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. After the completion of his doctoral studies at University of Thessaly, he has worked as a Special Educational Staff in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, University of Thessaly. He played a significant role in establishing and operating the Physical Performance Research and Evaluation Center, University of Thessaly, evaluating the physical performance of Olympic and National teams in both individual and team sports. In the academic year 2012-2013, Dr. Paschalis took a sabbatical and worked in the teaching and research program at the Department of Health Sciences, European University Cyprus. Vassilis Paschalis is widely recognized as a biologist with expertise in performance evaluation and muscle physiology. His research interests encompass investigating the mechanisms that contribute to exercise-induced muscle damage and the adaptive responses after eccentric exercise. Furthermore, he explores the potential impact of free radicals and antioxidants on muscle function. Dr Paschalis has published more than 80 international peer reviewed papers in the area of Exercise Physiology and has presented over 100 papers in conferences. His work has been cited in more than 4650 published papers (h-index = 39, Google Scholar). He also serves on the Advisory Editorial Board of Journal of Sports Sciences on the editorial board and acts as a reviewer for more than 40 journals in the field of Exercise Physiology.
